Topic: “Abnormally High and Low Valuation for U.S. Export and Import Transactions.”

The speaker will be Dr. Simon Pak. Dr. Pak is Academic Division Head of Management and an associate professor of Finance, Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies at the Pennsylvania State University. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley, an MS in Physics from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and a BS degree in Physics from Seoul National University, Korea. Prior to joining Penn State, he was on the faculty at the New York University and the Florida International University. He has taught economics and finance. He has conducted research in financial markets, banking, real estate finance, and capital flights and money laundering and published his research in American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, The International Trade Journal, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Business Ethics Quarterly, Applied Financial Economics, Accounting Forum, and Journal of Financial Crimes. His c
urrent research interest areas include international trade price analysis, transfer pricing and capital movements through over- and under-invoicing in international trade. He and a colleague were awarded $2 million research grant in 2003 by the U.S. Congress to expand their research on transfer pricing analyzing the U.S. export and import data in detail.
